Dr Millar's History

Personal History: Dr Millar was born and raised in Cullman Alabama. There he attended elementary and middle school. In the 8th grade, he won the Alabama State Science Fair and a scholarship to Georgia Military Academy in Atlanta Georgia. GMA changed its name and he graduated college prep school from Woodward Academy. During, Dr Millar's last two years at Woodward Academy, he was dual enrolled at Ga Institute of Technology (Ga Tech).  He graduated from Elkins Institute, at that time part of Georgia Tech, where he studied Electrical Engineering. He received his FCC 1st Class Radio/TV Engineers' license, and joined the family business as Chief Engineer over radio and TV stations.  He finished his Bachelors with a concentration in Business and Accounting at Barry University in Florida.  By this time, the family business was  a conglomerate, and the seventh largest publicly traded broadcasting company in America. "Airmedia, Inc." had divisions in radio; TV; printing & publishing; banking; mortgage lending; and real estate offices.

After an accident, Dr Millar had back surgery.  That event changed his life.  A year later he had a second back surgery.  He stated that "he was in constant pain 24 hours a day every day".  Trying to get out of pain, Dr Millar studied bio-mechanical trauma and kinesiology, "that helped some."  His brother suggested Chiropractic; but, Dr. Millar remembers saying, "I need a real doctor, not a Chiropractor. 'I have real problems.' 'I've had back surgery and NO Chiropractor is going to crack my back.'"  Dr Millar expressed that 30 years ago Chiropractors weren't like today.  He further stated "At the time, he was scared of Chiropractors. He really didn't personally know what they did or didn't do. He was just scared of the unknown".  He went on to say, "they were talking about another surgery at the time and my medical doctor said "No WAY" to Chiropractic". Dr Millar stated, "I got to the point that I had no other options.  I had tried every thing else and was still in pain. "Medicine had failed me". I had nothing else to loose, so I tried Chiropractic". "Within six weeks on Chiropractic my pain had dropped 50%.  I was able to start getting off some of the pain meds.  I had been in pain every day for the past 2 years and what finally got me out of pain was Chiropractic."  For this reason, Dr Millar shared that he became passionate about sharing Chiropractic with others.

"I told my family that I was going to Chiropractic School, they laughed.  They told me I was nearly 40 and too old. Dr Millar moved to Atlanta and started over again in college taking courses at two colleges to get the science courses he needed to get into Chiropractic school.  He then attended Life University, College of Chiropractic where he was President of his Class, and President of the Student Body and many times on the Deans list graduating with honors. He then studied extremity adjusting (hips, knees, ankles, feet, shoulders, elbows, wrist. hands, TMJ and ribs) and earned his CCEP, Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner. He has passed all four parts of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners as well as the Alabama State Board of Chiropractic Examination.  He is further Certified in Extremity (Non Spinal) manipulations. He has completed additional post graduate study in Neurology, Orthopedics, Physiological Therapeutics, Auto Accidents, Trauma, and Non Surgical Disc Treatments (Decompression Traction) for Bulging and Herniated Disc problems.

For several years, as a professor, Dr Millar taught Anatomy and Physiology at several local colleges.  He continued to take post graduate training in Neurology and Orthopedics. Dr. Millar in 2001 was approached by WAAY TV Channel 31 the ABC affiliate in Huntsville about developing a 30 minute live medical call in talk show. The Show "MedLine" was born in 2002 with medical doctors and chiropractors openly discussing their similarities and differences in treating various conditions. The show quickly gained a loyal following and was the top medical talk show in Alabama with thousands watching each week.  In 2005 with the sale of the station, the show's name was changed to MEDCALL.  Dr. Millar was then asked to join the WAAY TV morning news team for medical news and comment.  In 2005 through 2007, he did morning medical news and the "Medical Minute" every Tuesday and Thursday morning.  In 2007 again with the sale of the station, he was asked to develop a mid day call in program called BACKTALK. The BACKTALK show is seen every Tuesday at 11:30am on WAAY TV. MedLine TV Show continues to air every Saturday night at 10:30pm after the news.

Dr Millar is married to the lovely Tracy Crawford Millar of Birmingham. They have 3 children. He is active in the Baptist Church and enjoys playing with his three grandchildren.

Business History: Dr Millar started Millar Chiropractic™ in Decatur Alabama in 1998. It all started in one little house on the Beltline in Decatur. Millar Chiropractic Clinics™ now has four clinics in the Huntsville Metro area: Madison, Huntsville (Downtown), Jones Valley, and Decatur. The company is looking to franchise additional clinics in several Alabama cities. Each clinic independently owned and operated.  He also formed Millar Chiropractic Associates, Inc. to do the marketing and be the master franchiser of Millar Chiropractic™ and Millar Chiropractic Clinics™.  Sr VP, Dr. Ken Randolph, DC and Member of the Alabama Board of Chiropractic Examiners is the Chief Clinic Officer.  In 2004 Dr Millar opened Millar Disc Treatment Centers, LLC. as a clinic that specialized in treating bulging and herniated disc with decompression traction.  In 2006-2009 Dr Millar and the Neurosurgeons of UAB Dept of Neurosurgery practiced together in Decatur at the Millar Chiropractic/UAB North Outreach Clinic utilizing that decompression traction.  Dr Millar developed the Millar Facet Table used by chiropractors to treat Degenerative Facet problems in the neck and low back. All the Millar Chiropractic Clinics have a Millar Facet Table.

In 2008 came American Spine & Rehab, LLC., as Dr Millar wanted to treat personal injury patients.  Dr Millar stated, "This business kind of started in a funny way. The big orthopedic groups in Huntsville decided to not treat regular folks that had been in an auto accident as they did not want to go through the depositions and trials. Seeing a real need in the community we opened American Spine & Rehab." Today we have two Personal Injury clinics or subsidiaries: Huntsville Spine & Rehab, LLC.; Decatur Accident Rehab, LLC.

In 2010 Dr Millar started Beach Massage Spa, LLC. A place of tranquility and peace in a fun beach theme atmosphere. Next in 2011 he started Huntsville Pain Management, Inc. with Dr James Thacker MD. This practice concentrated on offering patients international pain therapy as opposed to heavy drug therapy. Dr Millar sold this practice to Dr Thacker in early 2014.

In 2012, Dr Millar started the Laser Pain Center, LLC and the Laser Pain Center Huntsville, LLC.  This is home of Cutting Edge MLS M6 Robotic Lasers for pain management without drugs or surgery. This was a chance to combine that engineer training with the medical/chiropractic training.  Dr Millar says he has for years suffered with Neuropathy and painful PAD peripheral artery disease.  He tried the medical approach with 4 different drugs but the said "I just did not like the way they made me feel." So he looked all over the world for an answer. In Europe he found that many patients were successfully treated with Lasers. So he started buying lasers and going back for training.

In 2014, Dr Millar started Alabama Laser Spine Foundation. He started experimenting with lasers at the Laser Pain Center on the cervical and lumbar spine in 2013. The results were remarkable. The lasers treated the pain and inflammation particulary the TNF inflammation marker so prevalent in low back pain from disc problems. As stated earlier, in 2004 Dr Millar opened the Millar Dics Treatment Center specializing in treating Bulging and Herniated disc with Vax-D decompression traction. The results were good at the time but the patients still had pain and inflammation. He started researching the use of lasers and spinal decompression traction. The decompression traction treated the mechanical compression structures and the laser treated the pain and inflammation. From this he developed the LADR Protocol, Laser Assisted Decompression Traction Rehabilitation.

In 2015 He still functions as  CEO of Millar Chiropractic Associates, Inc.  Dr Millar practices at the Offices of Dr Greg Millar, DC CCEP at 303 Williams Ave SW, Suite 115-A, Huntsville AL 35801. He is the Senior Doctor of the Laser Pain Center Huntsville and the Alabama Laser Spine Foundation. To contact him call 1-800 Why Hurt or (256) 539-0077.
